Babes And Bond Slaves

Having A Mind Set Of Babes

Jesus said in relation to His disciples, a prayer to the Father in Matthew 11:25 “At that time Jesus answered and said, “I praise Thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth that Thou didst hide these things from the wise and intelligent and didst reveal them to babes.

God gives revelation to babes. Thus we see Nathaniel, Peter & the other disciples , Simeon, Anna , the three wise men, the shepherds, John the Baptist, Zachariah, Elizabeth, Joseph & Mary , the Samaritan woman ,Mary Magdalene ,  Zacchaeus, the thief on the cross and others came to know that Jesus was the Messiah and were able to follow His teaching. Most others in Israel , including the Pharisees , Sadducees, religious & political people were not able to recognize Jesus as the Messiah and understand what He said..

Some of the mind set of babes are: they are helpless & dependent on others, they do not think highly of themselves or imagine that they know better than others, their minds are pure, they are innocent, they have no worries or cares in them so they are joyful

When Jesus referred to the babes as those who get revelation of the things of God, our desire should be to have the mind set of such ones.   

 

Having The Nature Of Bond Slaves

A servant works for wages but a slave is bought for a price & for a period .The slave has no wages or rights, he has to follow the commands of his master. A Bond Slave however is a slave who though set free from his slavery after completion of his service, chooses voluntarily to serve his master out of love for the rest of his life because his master has been good to him.

Some of God’s people referred to as Bond Slaves of God in the Bible are Moses, Mary the mother of Jesus , Simeon, Peter , John , Paul, Timothy , Epaphras  & the brothers of Jesus, James & Jude.

The nature of a bond slave is that he does not exercise authority; he thinks of only serving, he does not do what he desires but carries out the desires of his master. He is always in the background and does not desire the limelight. When he is misunderstood or ill-treated, he does not mind but takes it in his stride because he loves his master

When Paul the apostle wrote “ Follow me as I follow Christ” , we can follow him as a Bond Slave of Christ .We are all encouraged to be bond slaves of God in 1 Peter 2:16 . In Heaven we are all referred to as His bond servants who fear Him. Revelation 19:5.
